One year ago I stood before you and told you of the threat we face. I told you of the tyrant, of the inhuman army he had brought with him and the threat he posed to all we hold dear. I told you, and you listened. You listened and you understood, understood what had to be done, what sacrifices needed to be made and you stood ready to make those sacrifices.
We sought allies and we found those of the other tribes receptive to our words, promises were given, pledges were made, and alliances were forged.
Not half a year ago I stood before you once again and told you of the alliance we had formed and how we would take the fight to the tyrant before his machines were ready to face us. Our forces were numerous, our allies were strong and our wills unshakable.
Today I stand before you again, I stand before you to tell you that I was mistaken.
I believed our alliance was strong, I believed that honor, duty and brotherhood still meant something in this world.
I do not blame the tribe of the central plains, the tyrant’s army stood ever watchful amongst their numbers and the tyrant himself claimed their chieftain as his concubine. I do not blame them no, they were on their knees before they had a chance to stand.
The Stone men of the north, those I blame. Once I had called their chieftain brother and with my brother we carved our resolve to oppose the tyrant into the very mountain they call home. I thought the stone men warriors like we, made hard by the hard lands they live in, but I was mistaken. Their hardness was only skin deep and that skin cracked easily when the tyrant offered them an easier way to live. They let sloth take hold of them and it exposed just how weak and soft they were beneath their stone skin. To stand became too taxing for the lazy stone men of the north and they found life easier on their knees.
The wind singers of the west I never had high hopes for, their allegiance changes with the wind, but I hoped they would see how the Tyrants would clip their wings. But before the fickle folk of the west was able to see the truth in our words the Tyrant had already set his plan in motion. He used his magic to tear the very land apart and cast it into the sky. He placed his army of machines onto those islands of the sky and from there they rain death upon any Wind singer who would try to take off towards freedom. So the song of wind singers have gone quiet, their song no longer soars through the air, instead their cries echo between the cliffs.
In the east the royal family of the great lake claimed they possessed both wisdom and humility, but I found only cowardice and arrogance in their throne room. Their king had sat the throne from over a hundred years and he swore to act should the tyrant prove a threat to his people. We sent word to him that the time had come to act and his response was as far from wisdom as any man can get. “No army of metal and magic can approach my gates, so I see no threat from the tyrant.“
The arrogance, the hubris, the pure simple stupidity...
As he promised no army breached his gates, his hall was never ransacked and his people never had to raise their weapons for war. But the Tyrant did not need to storm his gates, his islands between the clouds moved far beyond where and from there he worked his magic. Not a drop of water fell on that great lake during the rainy season and when the tyrants stepped into the throne room the king of a mere puddle lowered his knees to a floor as dry as our own desert.
So I stand before you today and I tell you this: We stand alone against the tyrant.
We stand alone against his machines, his magic and against the very allies we tried to raise against him.
I tell you this because you need to know where we stand: we stand in the sand our mothers raised us in, we stand in the sand our mothers trained us in, we stand in OUR sand.
I tell you this because you need to know how we stand: we stand without his machines in our midst, we stand with bodies hardened to the core, we stand firm with the will to act quickly and decisively, and we stand without the delusions of those who have lived safe lives behind their walls.
And we will do more than simply stand where others kneeled, we will act! We will act with more strength than the stone men, more speed than the wind singers, more wisdom than those of the great lake, and most importantly we will act with the ferocity of the desert. We will move in the soft glow of the stars, strike from the shadows and grasp victory in the darkness. We will do what others are unable or unwilling to do, for we understand that it must be done. We will rip the tyrant’s accursed power from his hands and use it against him.
He would rule us from that monument to his ego he calls his castle but I swear to you all that I shall never bend my knee to his rule. The tyrant wields light to burn away all who stand against him, so I shall wield a darkness so deep it could swallow the sun and I will snuff out his light like the smallest candle.

I wouldn't say which school exactly, but this is from a fairly huge public high school in Digos City, where I study.
Our school recently started enforcing mandatory IDs at the entrance. But they have already finished handing out those IDs in late 2022. It took them this long to start requiring them.
And you know what caused them to start requiring IDs? There were reports of outsiders selling cocaine to students. They let our school be infiltrated by drug dealers before taking action. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Most painful point in that year was my childhood cat passing away in front of me and my mom, loved her to tears, we both cried over her and mourned her for a long time, got her ashes in an urn in our house, but at least she wasn't alone when she passed, and her family was with her. And not too long after, I met my beloved, who saved me from my loneliness and directionlessness towards life.

Hi, I'm a 30F with hx of PCOS, ASD repair as a child, palpitations. Current meds are the mini pill and Nebivolol 5mg OD. Nurse but not familiar with urology beyond the basics. Based in UK. My mother had a gynae ca (unsure of primary) which resulted in a hysterectomy and bladder removal when she was only 36 so naturally I am a bit highly strung about this.
A few days before Easter I noticed blood mixed with urine after passing urine on the toilet paper - I do not get periods as I am on the mini pill and it is 100% coming from higher up. No UTI symptoms at all, just small amount of blood stained urine on the toilet paper. Dipsticked my own urine in work - Leu+, Protein+ Blood+++. No lab values unfortunately but some were sent by my GP.
Seen doc after the Easter holidays, got given 5 day course of abx. No improvement, happening about once or twice a day.
So naturally I was freaking out I had bladder cancer so I got a private ultrasound of my kidney and bladder - NAD. All fine, which was a relief.
My NHS appointment to see urology was scheduled for November (!!!) So unfortunately I felt the need to see a urologist privately as my anxiety was through the roof. Seen the urologist last week and had a flexible cystoscopy - bladder is completely healthy and fine. Urethra fine. She couldn't find a cause and said "it's really weird". She suggested I see a gynaecologist to double check my cervix. My most recent cervical smear in 2022 was clear. My urologist has exhausted all tests so has discharged me.
My symptoms are still happening at least once a day. I feel a bit lost and I've spent a chunk of my savings getting urgent tests done which have reassured me there is no massive tumour but now have made me anxious as there has been no cause found. It's been going on for 8 weeks now. I'm trying to think rationally about this but I have a few other stessors at the moment and so my resilience isn't at my best right now. Urine sample dipsticked today by my GP has blood & leukocytes, awaiting further info from the lab report this week. I am scheduled to have a transvaginal ultrasound next week and I will hopefully see gynae soon.
I am currently extremely stressed out about this, I am in my final year of my MSc degree and working full time as a respiratory esearch nurse. My stress levels have got so severe my doctor has signed me off work for 3 weeks. I feel like I cannot cope with this uncertainty.

2023.06.06 15:01 murraycares I'm quitting weed forever and if you've been struggling to moderate your usage, you probably should too.

Hey everyone, I'm a long-time sporadic reddit user but will likely be on here a bit more often now as I think being apart of a like-minded community and updating with my progress will be good for me, and hopefully for others too.
I first smoked weed when I was 14 years old, then started using more heavily from 16 onwards. I'm almost 26 now, and for the most part, weed has been a big part of my life from early adolescence til now. Although most of my friends smoke to varying degrees, it's been apparent for a long time that out of all the people closest to me, my use of the drug has been the most problematic.
Long story short, I've been trying to moderate my usage of cannabis since I've been 16 and for a long time, thought it was doable. For years, I never thought I'd come to the point where I have to give it up forever. During 2021/2022 I took a 1 year break from cannabis (a huge deal for me at the time and still kind of is now). I reintroduced the drug into my life with the resolve that I would quit for good if I was unable to regulate my consumption.
Since then I've had a damn good crack at moderating. I've had so many different 'moderating' rules that have worked to varying degrees over the years. Unfortunately, attempting to moderate my consumption has proved to be difficult, tiresome and ultimately unsuccessful. I'm defeated, and am done wasting any more of my life trying to play the game of moderation.
Until a few days ago I have not been ready to give it up forever. When I would think about 'forever', I would think things like "oh, so when you're 70 and retired and there's a doobie being passed around you're going to commit to not having a toke in 45 years?". It seemed unrealistic. It is now very clear, beyond reasonable doubt that making the 'forever' call is the best one. Here's why:
When I'm 60 or 70 I still want to be making the most of my life and don't want anything impeding that (the same reason I want to quit now). As much as I didn't want to admit it for a quite a while, I'm addicted to weed. Once those pathways are made in your brain, they are usually there forever. I have no good reason to believe that I wont have the same problems with cannabis in the future that I've had now. If weed consumption was a problem when I was 16, and is still a problem 10 years later, it's quite clear that age isn't going to fix anything.
It's a huge call quitting forever, and although I'm excited to remove the one thing that has held me back the most, it's also scary. I know that one compromising situation and 1 toke can unravel everything, whether that's 1, 5, 10, or 30 years down the line. I do take solace knowing that in the past I promised myself 1 year and stuck to it. I also take solace in knowing that having it out of my life for an extended amount of time was a lot easier than "just smoking on weekends" or "just with friends". You know the 'seed' that gets planted in your mind to smoke weed, which can be shut down at first, but has a way of growing until you've decided your gonna get high? Well, its a lot harder for that seed to sprout in the first place if you have whole-heartedly made a non-negotiable decision to never smoke.
In the last year I've made a lot of progress in my life and can see doors starting to open up for me (I've always been very ambitious and a big dreamer, however let down by poorly managed ADD and cannabis use) and want to take complete control over my life and realise my full potential. Weed isn't the fun, harmless novelty drug it once was. The net-bad far outweighs the net-good and I'm sick of trying to bargain with my addicted mind. To moderate is to tolerate and I am no longer going to tolerate something which grips me and holds me back in life.
I have given myself 2 weeks to mentally prepare and come to terms with my future without weed. Although it has never been apart of my identity in a '420 blaze it/rep it' kind of way, it has been a huge part of my life and I'm still almost in disbelief in making such a huge decision. The 17th of June, 2023 will be the last day I ever use cannabis (well, specifically THC in any amount that is perceivable). I look forward to posting in weeks, months and years to come to share my progress and hopefully inspire others to give up something which doesn't serve them. Peace and love to you all.
