I am just an ‘ordinary’ mediator.
I am upset to see all these revelations about MMY in the facebook groups.
For me, TM basically saved my life. I was in a bad place, and TM bought me release from nearly all my problems, and gave me a calmer more settled control of my life. I have experienced untold benefits, far too many to list.
And I am in touch with a deep inner peace and silence, a sense of a real universal eternity existing outside of my individual life, something that I had never encountered before TM.
I am very happy with the basic TM technique, and will do it for the rest of my life, although I have no interest whatsoever in the siddhis or advanced techniques. I don’t need them.
It saddens me that MMY, who I so looked up to, is now perhaps not the man we thought.
But… ultimately it doesn’t matter to me. Transcendental meditation works and it is real. I am beyond grateful for it.
MMY made other mistakes as well, for instance withdrawing teaching from the UK during the Iraq war, because he was disgusted by Tony Blair. I get that but why punish the man in the street who might wish to learn TM? Why not also do the same in the USA who led the war anyway?
And aside from MMY I am horrified by the pictures I have seen of the upper echelons of the TMO. Who sit around in silk robes and golden crowns!! It looks exactly like the Pope surrounded by all his minions at the vatican. Just so very wrong! I want nothing to do with the TMO.
So…. both MMY and the TMO were and are flawed, but the process of basic transcendental meditation is a real tangible and beautiful thing.
Let’s all never lose sight of that!

Hi, just looking for people's advice on how to deal with running bad. I play micro stakes on GG, and currently sitting about 20 buy ins or so below the All in EV line in 25k hands. Basically I just feel I am losing in so many frustrating spots, and as a result tilt and play no where near my best (which I think is definitely good enough to beat the game)
It's starting to really get to me to be honest and not sure what to do. Should I take a break from it? Quit a session as soon as I have a couple bad beats and start playing no where near my best? Or just battle through it and accept this is part of the game?
I'm relatively new to poker (about 1 year) so not sure how bad I'm running really, and if this is just normal and I'm overreacting? Anyway hopefully you can understand what I'm trying to say, any advice on dealing with it or info would be appreciated.

2023.06.06 13:51 SinCityBlack I ROLLED GODLY STARTING STATS!!!

Okay, this is the backstory part, and if you wanna skip, go to the paragraph starting with, “So here’s the deal.” This is my second campaign EVER, and I’m in a world of too many choices, lol. I knew what I wanted to play the first time, but this time I feel like I’m overwhelmed with options. The last campaign was about six months and we reached level 7 for our final battle. I played an Oath of Vengeance Paladin and LOVED IT!!!
As for the group, we went through 6 party members throughout and ended with only 3 still coming by level 4-5. We’re starting a new campaign in the same world, at a similar time as the previous campaign, just in a new part of the world our DM is building for us. And this time we have 2 new players that seem dedicated to staying the whole campaign. Important for class synergies, etc - as you all know.
So Here’s The Deal - I rolled for stats and got the following:
9 - 11 - 15 - 16 - 18 - 18
The new campaign will have five players, who have all selected their classes, etc. they are as follows: Arcane Trickster Rogue, Assassin Rogue, Moon Druid, and a custom Warlock our DM is creating with a player based off of 3.5 warlocks. The campaign is that we are a group of criminals working for a syndicate. Anything from theft to assassinations. We’ve all worked for this syndicate before, but never together. And races are limited to “must appear human.” So no rabbit build as I was hoping before learning the new campaign. BUT WE GET A FREE FEAT!!! So no variant human for double feats. But that’s fine! Lol! Aasimar, tieflings, Changling, shifters, etc are all allowed. Just no obviously non-human/humanoid. This campaign will go to around level 14, which I love!!!
Before even rolling, I had decided I wanted to play a Dhampir. Not for the bite, but because I love the free use of spider climb. I love the flair of it. Whether to go elitist style with a sword bouncing around the battlefield, or feral and leap around, or maybe even…bladesinger around the field?!?! I’ve only had Paladin experience, so I don’t know if I like weapons over claws/fists, or even if I prefer spells to melee. I do know I don’t really enjoy ranged weapon attacks. I won’t feel involved in the fight or mission (just my inexperienced opinion of my preferred play style). If I’m going to be ranged, I’d like it to involve more battlefield control and ranged spell attacks over ranged weapons. And I don’t want to be another rogue in the party. Sorlock, Hexadin, etc are banned, too.
This brought me to a Dhampir Echo Knight/Bladsinger multi class idea! Somewhat of a cross between Dracula and Alucard from the Castlevania anime Netflix adaptation. I was thinking Fighter 2 / Wizard 6 / Fighter 4 / Wizard 8 for most fun and to avoid delaying spells too much…This would allow for more than one weapon option, as there’s a UA blade whip I would like to use instead of a Rapier sometimes. (This weapon is cleared with my DM!) Fighter also gives me con saves, and a fighting style. Plus, freaking action surge with the blade singer’s awesome extra attack?! WHAT?! That just seems broken 😂 then using my echo as more of a vampiric double image from my speed…
Considering my desire for a gish-like battlefield controller to fill in the gaps in my party, is my idea going to be insane, or insanely fun?!?! Is Dhampir a waste of my time? Would another class, or race, or race fit my desires better? And if not, what insane build would you do in a stealth based, criminal type campaign like the one I am playing with these stats? Taking other players classes into consideration, and not wanting to be the third rogue, or replay Paladin this quickly?

So basically its what it says on the tin, I’m in a game and the DM has allowed me to switch characters from my leaf order druid, since I’m not enjoying it very much.
But our party still needs a support character as the full party outside of me is a champion, a fighter, a witch and a inventor. And while I dont mind playing a support I also know that now know that leaf druid is not for me. Another class I know I dont enjoy that much is bard. But outside of those two I’m very open for some fun support builds/ideas.
I do have a cleric idea, but I’m not sure if cleric is the most fun support. I really am stuck and need some help/ideas for fun support builds.

Hello. I've been learning React for a few months now and recently decided to tackle Redux. After going through Redux official tutorial docs I've decided it's time to try and build something myself. I've built a drum machine app, but it's kind of disaster right now. It kinda works but it's poorly optimized and very laggy. Specifically, PatternField which is a component responsible for creating user patterns and playing loops causes the most problems (timing is off, sounds being skipped, etc.). You can see it if you try assigning (choose a pad and then click the wanted pattern cell) some samples to pattern and then playing it. Here's what I've tried:
- I thought that maybe PatternField causes unnecessary re-renders of unrelated components, but after inspecting it with Redux Devtools I didn't see it trigger other re-renders except for itself.
- I thought maybe my original idea for implementing loop playing functionality using setInterval was flawed and I remade it using Tone.js library that's built specifically for audio related processes. It didn't help either.
- I was aware of Redux methods of optimizing apps using createSelector function, but couldn't figure out how/where to implement it. I tried useCallback (PatternPad) in one place that I thought was problematic part to seemingly no effect.
I'm asking experienced React/Redux developers to take a look at the project if you get a chance and tell me what glaring flaws (which I'm sure there are) you find or any other suggestions. I understand that I'm asking and I value your time, but I'm really stuck on this one and would greatly appreciate even the smallest useful suggestions.

Really 'brief' back story - 4 years ago i met a girl, we got pregnant very quickly not by choice, she moved in to my house which i owned with my Brother at the time, he moved out (really fucked our relationship up which is now a lot better), we sold the house, i rented a house for me, the kids and my partner and then my partner had a pretty bad time, started drinking, we argued loads which was awful for the kids. She is a bad drunk and breaks shit. I ended it for my own mental well being and to stabilise the household for the kids, which she took poorly, but did my best to continue to support her emotionally (we're in each others lives for better or worse so I'd rather do it as genuine friends at a minimum) etc. and we have been Co-parenting semi-effectively since, and have been kind of 'on and off'. We have worked a lot on communication and have been 'on' in a non-labelled kind of way for the past few months.
I'm going to see a band in a few weeks which has been planned for nearly 8 months. It had been arranged that she would look after the kids that night as i have them 50% of the time. She asked a couple of weeks ago if i could arrange with my parents to look after the kids instead as she wanted to go out with a friend. Sure, no problem.
I get a phone call and she says 'You are away on this weekend, can me and my friend stay at your house when you aren't there'.
I said i wasn't comfortable with that but i'd consider it and we could discuss it later, and she pushed for a reason so I explained that i don't know her friend, it's my home and I'm protective of my space and because of previous experiences with her being a destructive drunk and being disrespectful to my home in the past.
She cut the call short and then i didn't hear from her until the next evening. She was upset that i hadn't followed up with her 'because i knew that I'd hurt her feelings', and she was upset that I didn't trust her and thought she was disrespectful, it was a problem for our relationship and she was questioning us being 'together' and thought I was being an asshole.
We spoke and i did my best to articulate my thoughts, and that i didn't think she was a disrespectful person 99% of the time but it was the 1% that made me uncomfortable. Which made things worse.
I don't feel like an asshole but AITA?

Im coming to chennai next week, it was extremely difficult to find a pg in guindy below 10k and there were also lock in period and charges for moving out within a span of 3 months.when surfed online i can only find 6 PGs in magic brics which too dosent have necessary facility. Zolo and stanza living has lots of post charges and its dragging my rent to nearly 15k. Can anyone in Guindy suggest me any idea to get a PG ...All the replies are appreciated

2023.06.06 13:48 tumid Shadow Kingdom - a musical offering?

With all the talk of Shadow Kingdom being Bob's final output, I think it's ridiculous.
It's a great album, magnificent reworking of some of his classics, but nowhere near his best works, as much as I love listening to it on repeat. One thing did strike me. As Watching the River Flow turned into It's All Over Now Baby Blue, I felt an odd long-forgotten sensation. It was only after few moments I realised, I feel like I'm in a church.
I am not religious, but was raised Catholic. And the transition between the two songs did feel like the part of Christian mass that I believe in English is called The Dismissal. It is where the priest gives the congregation the final blessing and imposses them to go and spread the word of god. From my experience, It often has this aura of suspension. You know the service is almost over, but you ought to stay for a couple of moments more. Intentionally, or more likely not, Shadow Kingdom arrangement of It's All Over Now.. has a very similiar feel. And the subject of saying goodbye only adds to it.
Listening to Sierra's Theme I cannot help but to feel as I am leaving a church after a service.
A very odd feeling for a person who has not attended a religious service for decades now.

2023.06.06 13:48 ClaudioHplus Sharpshooter vs War Caster for a gunner battle smith

Hello! The character is lv. 8 and the DM allows me to pick Musket, Pistol, Shield, Half plate. She has 10 STR, 14 COS, 14 DEX, 20 INT, 10 WIS, 10 CHA and she's VHuman. As infusion I have Repeating Shot (on the Musket/Pistol), Spell-Refueling Ring (equipped), Enhanced Defense (on the armour), Homunculus Servant and Armor of Magical Strength (I haven't decided yet for the sixth infusion). As cantrips I have Mending (for obvious reasons), and Shocking Grasp to be able to attack effectively who try to close the distance.
Sharpshooter fits better thematically, because I want use the musket and attack from the long range and behind covers; concentration checks don't worry me so much because with Flash of Genius I get a very solid +8 and moreover I'm mainly ranged. Just +4 to the attack roll using Sharpshooter isn't great but is decent, but the overall damage would be quite impressive. One of the my main concerns is that at higher levels and with monsters with more AC Sharpshooter could get way less useful.
On the other hand with War Caster concentration checks turn into a joke, I can equip Pistol and Shield and CAST SHIELD and get an amusing 25 of AC. But with War Caster and using mainly the Pistol I lost a good chunk of range and damage.
What do you think it's the better build and why?

For my own personal tastes I’ve hired a voice actress to do a rendition of gammas actor voice for female modded characters.
Some facts involved about it:
-This is done in Russian with a Ukrainian accent.
-No obscene profanity, at most “damn it/god damn it” and only as a mummer to the actor itself, such as weapon jamming.

All lines were carefully chosen to be universal. Applicable to both mutant and stalker kills alike. If you understand Russian you will no longer hear lines like “You ran out of ammo or what?!” When you’re fighting a boar.

-Additional lines for actor idling and bleeding included should you be able to write the programming for adding it.

All lines were refined to sound applicable to all situations.

If someone would be interested in building this just message me. I don’t NEED the credit but please credit the voice actress. I only gathered the raw materials you’d be doing the tedious part, so if you build it you own it. This was also posted in moddb forms

Our wooden front steps are in desperate need of replacement. And two contractors have told us that the porch joists also need to be replaced. The thing that has me upset is that a contractor that we are getting a quote from told us that because of the extent of the project we will need to bring the porch up to code. That means replacing the original porch railing because it is not high enough to meet the current building code. It make me very sad to think about trashing the elegant original railings.
Does anyone have any tips for how to navigate the balance between historical preservation and building code requirements? Live in Massachusetts.

2023.06.06 13:45 NewtExisting6715 Do I need root canal?

This photo was few years ago. I had a check up with my dentist, and had an x-ray and he told me that based on the x-ray, it seems that I don't need a root canal. He just gave me a prescription of anti biotics.
After a year, it hurts again and the swelling is on different location but near the previous.
It was pandemic so I only had my check up with our company physician, and he gave me anti biotics. Swelling and pain was gone again.
But I have a feeling that, the pain will comeback again soon. Because sometimes I feel numbness and pulse in the area.
Do I need root canal? I just recently had a check up with a general dentist saying she is not sure whether if needed it or not. She doesn't see anything on xray(one that they use to see if root canal is needed).
I don't know what to do😅
